Davey Johnstone
Davey Johnstone
Guitarist – Spirit Cum Ba Yuh
Davey Johnstone has stamped his trademark guitar style on all of Elton John’s biggest selling singles and albums since 1971.
Saturdays Night’s alright for Fighting, Bitch is Back, Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road are just a few examples, Davey also co-wrote “ I guess that’s why they call it the blues” with Sir Elton and Bernie Taupin.
Amongst other artists Davey has worked with are John Lennon, Pete Townsend, George Michael and Lenny Kravitz.
Davey Johnston was sole non-human sound, instrument, in "Spirit Cum Ba Yuh" trailer. He used his electric guitar to carry the sound and spirit of Ms. Loretta Stanley's voice into the future. Davey beautifully demonstrated how the style of "moan" or "shout" and also "long note singing" traveled from ancient African singing through the centuries to the British invasion rock guitar "weeping".
