Mission

To remake the usage of the words Black and Darkness in language and mythology.

The deification of the very words white and light is the driver of what is called white supremacy. And the invented story of “white people” drains the spirits of both those humans and those of other races. These words are deified through stories, mythology, not law and government. The story of light, the sun god and the demi-god king/emperor/pharaoh is over 6,000 years old.

Black University creates stories from a different lens: DARKNESS MYTHOLOGY. In our mythology Darkness is simply a powerful word to remind us that Spirits, Ideas, Dreams and Gods are all invisible and reside in the Darkness. And the mystery power of The Darkness is the life creation of this beauty. We tell stories where the heroes are the collective not the individual. In our storytelling we often use The We as a central character, as well as The Darkness.

Black University is a 501c3 art collective dedicated to creating a new mythology using, perhaps, the two most emotional words of the English language: Darkness and Black. Western mythology has labored centuries to evoke an involuntary response of negativity to these words. Reversing this involuntary response will create spiritual and imaginative freedom.

Methods & Goals

One critical Black University mythological concept is that the Black American Slaves are, collectively, the spiritual masters of the American story. In fact The Gullah Geechee people refer to each other as WE. The We consciousness has yet to be effectively incorporated into American TV and Film mythology, (preferring rugged individualism) and the Black Slaves, collectively are the perfect entry point into WE storytelling. Black University has attracted many wonderful artists to this concept.

Our goal is to grow into a non-profit film production company with complete creative autonomy. By producing multiple film and TV products rooted in this foundation-shifting mythology we believe we can help evolve the human consciousness.

Darkness: the invisible mystery of life creation.
