Raquel Rosser
Played Leatril – Goddess Revealed at The Hudson and The Actors Gang
Bit by the proverbial acting bug at the ripe age of 14, Raquel’s very first production of musical The Wiz laid the groundwork for a love affair that would progress into an array of roles in theatre, film, tv, voiceover and commercials. Raquel did film and theatre work in Washington D.C. then moved to L.A. and toured the U.S. as part of the original cast of The Bachelorette Party co-produced by Will Smith. The play was later adapted into a book through Penguin Random House Canada. Raquel also performed in the first all-black cast of Sister Cities with the Towne Street Theatre company, written by Colette Freemen. The play was later adapted into a film. She also performed as an understudy in the role of Beneatha alongside Starletta Dupois in a Raisin in the Sun at the Ruskin Theatre. She recently had the joy of performing in roles such as Leatril in Nick Gillie’s The Darkness at The Hudson and Actor’s Gang Theatre, and in Melvin Johnson’s Revolutionary Genocide at Theatre 68. Raquel was also in season 1 of the popular web series RoomieLoverFriends that aired on BET. This along with a long list of other productions in the film, theatre, commercial, tv and voiceover realm. Most recently Raquel has performed as Detective Munroe in the Lifetime TV movie, Obsessed with the Babysitter and in an award-winning short film entitled Contraban that literally blazed and won several awards in the film festival market from the Pan African Film, BronzeLens, Boston Sci Fi Film Festival and more. Contraban was also considered as a contender for the Oscars in the short film action category.
